Like nearly every photographer around the world right now, I’m using the COVID-19 lockdown time to update my website. Even just making a start on the backlog of photos I’ve been meaning to share feels so good – but not as good as freedom will be once I can get out and photograph gigs in Melbourne again.
Here’s some of my favourite shots from Laneway Festival 2019 – my ninth year photographing this excellent event.
2019 was Laneway’s first year of moving to a much larger venue, Footscray Park. The surrounding gardens were really beautiful, and had plenty of space for attendees to chill out in the sun. There were some great performances including Camp Cope, Gang Of Youths, and Courtney Barnett. I always love discovering new artists at festivals – I really enjoyed the sets from Mitski, G Flip, Clairo and Rex Orange County.
All photos shot on Nikon D810, Nikon 14-24mm f2.8 and Nikon 70-200mm f2.8. Gallery shot for The AU Review.
